I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember, but 2026 is the first year that I’m on track to read over 100 books. I want to preface this post by emphasizing that I think the focus of reading should be enjoyment, not reading a certain number of books. However, I’ve found that the more I read, the happier and more relaxed I am. So while I don’t suggest pressuring yourself to read a certain number of books, I hope that this post brings more reading to your life!
Below are the tools and strategies that are helping me read over 100 books in 2026:
- Audiobooks
I always have a physical book and an audiobook on the go. I use the Libby app for audiobooks. Libby links to your local library and lets you borrow audiobooks for free. I listen to audiobooks when I’m driving, walking, cross-stitching, and doing chores. Not only does it make doing those tasks much more enjoyable, but it also helps me read more books. One tip I have for reading a book while also listening to a different audiobook is to make sure the books are very different in nature so you don’t get them confused.
2. Seasonal Reading
I make lists of books that I want to read each season. For example, my summer TBR list includes books by Elin Hilderbrand, Annabel Monaghan, and Carley Fortune (among others!). I’ve found that doing this motivates me to read. It’s so enjoyable reading books that take place in the current season. I relate to the books more and it makes me really appreciate the season!
3. Nightly Reading
I’ve made it a routine to read in bed before I fall asleep every night. It’s a routine that I truly look forward to every day. Reading every night, even if it’s for a short periods of time, really adds up. An added bonus: I’m sleeping better than ever!
4. E-Reader
I’ve had an e-reader since 2016. They’re so light and easy to travel with, whether to an office or on a vacation. In situations where having a physical book on hand isn’t practical, e-readers mean I’m still rarely without a book. I also love increasing the font size so that I don’t strain my eyes when I’m reading for long periods of time!
I hope these tips come in handy. Let me know if you already use any of them yourself, or if you have other tricks that have helped you to read more!
