There’s been some exciting book news lately! From movie adaptations to new releases to new book announcements, below is the latest book news I’m excited about:
1. Dolly All the Time Movie Adaptation
It was recently announced that Annabel Monaghan’s latest novel, Dolly All the Time, has been acquired by Sony’s 3000 Pictures, with Gemma Burgess set to adapt the novel and Temple Hill Entertainment set to produce.
Dolly All the Time is about a woman who, along with her son, moves back to her hometown in Rhode Island to help her father and brother, who are at risk of losing their home. While there, she enters into a fake relationship with Stewart, the son of a wealthy family after whom her hometown is named.
I really enjoyed Dolly All the Time (see my ranking of all of Annabel Monaghan’s novels here), so I’m excited for the movie! No casting announcements have been made, and I’m curious about who will be cast in the roles of Dolly and Stewart.
2. Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty Out Now
Between the bestselling novel and the award-winning TV series, Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies took the world by storm. The sequel, Big Little Truths, was released today, 12 years after the release of Big Little Lies.
Big Little Truths picks up ten years from where Big Little Lies left off with Madeline, Celeste, Jane, Renata, and Bonnie. The principal of the kids’ high school receives a human finger in the mail, and a suspicious man starts asking questions around the high school about the past. The women are forced to grapple with the secrets they’ve kept from their kids.
As is typically the case with a Liane Moriarty novel, the plot sounds intriguing. I can’t wait to read this!
3. Emerald Lake by Nita Prose Announced
Nita Prose is the Canadian author of the Molly the Maid series (The Maid, The Mystery Guest, The Mistletoe Mystery, and The Maid’s Secret). It’s a cozy mystery series that I loved.
I saw Nita Prose speak at a library event last spring, where she said that she was working on a thriller set at a lakeside Muskoka cottage. I’ve been waiting for more details ever since, and now we have them!
Nita Prose’s next novel will be Emerald Lake, scheduled to be released in April 2027. The novel is set at Thanksgiving, and the main character is an 84-year-old woman named Jane. Her granddaughters, who are staying with her at her lakeside cottage, find an unusual item in a swamp. Jane is taken back to 1955, when her sister mysteriously died. She relives that summer and its secrets, and finally learns the truth.
If the Sterling Point TV series has you wanting more Muskoka, this might be your answer. I’ve already added Emerald Lake to my Goodreads “Want to Read” list, and I can’t wait for it to come out!
